What was once a dream to uplift her family’s welfare, a loving mother decided to start her own business from the money she had. It all stated one sunny day in 1998 when she opened her own rice business and delivered packed rice to different companies. It was named DML Rice Center after her three children – Donnie Ray, Marienel, and Lyka.
It seemed like an easy task at first. Packing rice then delivering it to the company. However, she later found out that the job was not sustainable. By the start of the rainy season, lack of space made the rice sacks susceptible to rain and the up going constant changes to the commodity’s price made it more difficult.
Two years after, she decided to start a new business. A small restaurant that also catered to different occasions. The name DML Rice Center was then changed to Mhartee’s Kitchenette.
Then a former colleague visited the restaurant and saw how wonderful it was running. She invited her to bid in the company she was working for and in August 2002, Mhartee’s Kitchenette was given a contract with Nissin Brakes Philippines. It was the very first company canteen that they had operated. From there the company was born in the concessionaire industry.
On October 2006, the name was changed to DML Food Services, which is known to most of the companies she operated. As of November 2010, the name was changed to its present name, Marienel Food Services.
Presently, the canteen is operating Laguna Auto-parts Manufacturing Corporation and Philippine Precision Technology Inc. We’re going to start operations to Glades International Corporation on March 19, 2012.
